Bulletin Boards to be Upgraded and Mailbox Landscaping for Spring 2011

Posted - Feb 10th, 2011 - James Gosteli

Concept Drawing of New Mailbox area with new Bulletin Board - by James Gosteli

Cheadle will be receiving a new bulletin board at the new mailbox location while the existing one at the old location will be upgraded. Both will feature solar LED lighting to light up posted items at night when people approach it. It was decided to keep the old BB since it is a high traffic area by both vehicles and pedestrians. Also, visitors to the community will often pull up to that area, which makes it a suitable location for the community map.

Once the weather permits, the post holes will be drilled at the new location and construction can begin. Some nice looking trees will be planted directly behind the mailboxes to provide some wind diffusion and improve the appearance of the area. James Gosteli will be working on the project, so anyone willing to lend a hand should contact him at 403-809-1673. As a phase 2 to this project, an additional concrete pad will be placed directly behind the existing for the mailboxes to sit on. This will enable the current pad to be utilized as a sidewalk. This will likely be completed in late summer after the ice-rink project.

Concern over Mail-box flow of traffic

Some residents have expressed concern over the difficulty in accessing the new Mailbox location with an easy flow. There are 2 contributing factors to this at the moment. The primary issue is the the boxes are currently sitting on the Sidewalk. A specific extention to the concrete pad will be added behind the current mailbox position. This will allow vehicles to park closer to the boxes and allow easier turning if needed. Another factor is the large pile of recycled asphalt blocking the turn-around access in the hall parking lot. Once this is moved and the snow is cleared, traffic should flow much easier.
