Cheadle Skyview Camera - Upgrades Completed
Posted - Feb 14th, 2010 - James Gosteli
Cheadle's East Springs webcam is back online after its weekend upgrades. The system is now running on a new MPEG4 Video Server which means better reliability and future live streaming. The new Camera has also been installed. It is a MYON Systems Starlight-30IR CCD camera with enhanced IR Night vision and improved light sensitivity. What this means is better image quality and something to actually view at night, rather than a black image. The camera viewing angle has also been slightly adjusted to reduce sunlight glare during the summer months. The new system should be much more reliable, depending of course on reliability of Community Network's internet connection to the Cheadle area.
A Cheadle weather center may eventually be added onto the system, as the new video server is perfectly able to upload additional text data to the website. As most residents know, the weather in Cheadle is usually completely different from Calgary and Strathmore. So having accurate information on current Cheadle conditions would be a nice addition. The Cheadle Skycam is already a great feature for viewing visual conditions, but information such as temperature and wind-speed would be a nice addition.
