New Highway Turn-outs for Cheadle

The new traffic management plan for Cheadle has been approved. The Provincial Government will be performing enhancements to the way traffic turns in and out of Cheadle. Railway Avenue will receive a minor realignment, approximately 20 Meters from Highway 24, so that it will join at a 90 degree angle. The span of Highway 24 within the Cheadle limits will be widened in order to accommodate the new turning lanes. Malone Avenue will also receive an enhanced turn radius to accommodate the additional traffic to the Cheadle Hall. The Styl Street / Hendry Avenue access to Highway 24 will be permanently closed in order to accommodate for this. The Highway crest, just North of Cheadle will be shaved down in order to improve visibility and safety for vehicles turning onto the highway.
These new improvements to Highway 24 will come as a great benefit to locals who frequently hear truck horns wailing as people turn off into Cheadle, requiring a speed change of 100km/h to 30km/h. These projects are expected to be started around fall of 2010. A big thank-you to Bernice Bland for helping to make this happen.
