10 things to do
Want to do something to stop Global Warming?
Here are 10 simple things you can do to cut Carbon Dioxide and save money while doing them.
Change a Light
Replacing 1 regular light bulb with an LED or compact fluorescent light bulb will save 70kg of Carbon Dioxide a year and save you money.
Drive less
Walk, bike, carpool or take mass transit more often. You'll save 1kg of Carbon Dioxide for every kilometer of city driving you don't drive.
Recycle more
You can save 1600kg of Carbon Dioxide by simply recycling just half of your household waste.
Check your tires
Keeping your tires inflated properly can increase your fuel efficiency by 3%. Filling them with Nitrogen will also increase your efficiency and reduce air loss.
Every Litre of Gasoline saved keeps 2 kilograms of Carbon Dioxide out of the atmosphere!
Use less hot water
It takes a lot of energy to heat water. Use less hot water by installing a low-flow showerhead (160kg of CO2 reduced per year) and washing your clothes with warm of even better, cold water (230kg reduced per year).
Avoid products with a lot of packaging
You can reduce 550kg of CO2 per year if you cut your garbage by 10%.
Adjust your thermostat
Moving your thermostat just 2 degrees down in a house heating with forced air heating can reduce CO2 by as much as 1000kg per year. Switching to more efficient heating such as radiant floor heating can increase those CO2 savings by a further 60%.
Plant a tree... Plant lots of trees
A single tree will absorb 1 ton of CO2 in its lifetime. Imagine what a forest can do.
Turn off electronic devices
Simply turning off your television, dvd, stereo and computer when you're not using them can save thousands of kilograms of Carbon Dioxide a year.
